IC3 INTERNET AND COMPUTING CORE CERTIFICATION

Yesterday, it was reading, writing and arithmetic.  Today, we've added computing and Internet skills to the list of fundamentals. Educators and employers alike are calling for greater computing literacy among students and potential employees.  And while there are many ways to gain these skills, there has been no universal, standardized method for measuring basic computing competency.  That is, until now.  IC3 is a standards-based certification program for basic computing and Internet literacy.  It provides specific guidelines for the knowledge and skills required to be a productive user of computer hardware, software, networks and the Internet.  By establishing this vendor-independent standard, IC3 provides a reliable, universal measure of basic computing aptitude.

Broad-based Standard, Broad-based Benefits

For Students and Job Seekers

Wouldn't it be great if you could also get college credit for successfully passing an industry recognized, global certification?  Now you can!  After rigorous review, the American Council on Education (ACE) recommended college credit for IC3.  For individuals just entering the "digital world," IC3 provides an accepted, portable credential establishing basic computer literacy.  It gives job seekers a resume-building standard certification as proof of credentials.  And it provides a solid foundation for achieving application-specific certifications, such as Microsoft Office Specialist, and more advanced certifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Comp TIA's A+.

For Academic Institutions

IC3 gives educators a dynamic and universal standard on which to base educational programs, ensuring that the latest computing and Internet fundamentals are being taught.  By verifying that students have achieved a standard level of computing literacy, institutions will also be able to increase job placement percentages.

For Employers

Businesses can rely on IC3 certification as a way to qualify potential employees, thereby increasing productivity while cutting training cost.  It also helps employers improve on the return on their technology  investments and fully leverage the latest computing and networking standards while demonstrating their commitment to employee advancement and personal development.
