Course Descriptions

WINDOWS

Windows Basics (9:00-4:00)

Teaches mouse functions and use of graphic file management, such as copying, deleting and moving files. You will also learn to customize the Start menu and to create, short-cuts and to link applications. Also covers detailed information on the Windows control panel to customize the operating environment.

Windows for Seniors (9:30-11:30)

Learn all of the basics of programs such as opening and closing programs, opening, editing and printing documents, and sending and receiving e-mails. Understanding what folders are and how to manage them will also be covered.

SPREADSHEET

 Beginning Microsoft Excel 2003 (9:00-4:00)

Covers how to access menus, create, edit and print spreadsheets, use commands and formulas.

 Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2003 (9:00-4:00)

Includes protecting data, combining and linking worksheets, using advanced functions, controlling worksheet recalculation, creating graphs, and working with databases.

 Advanced Microsoft Excel 2003 (9:00-4:00)

Prerequisite:  Thorough knowledge of basic and intermediate Excel functions.  Covers Visual Basic programming.

 Excel Analysis Regression 2003 (9:00-1:00)

Prerequisite:  Thorough knowledge of basic Math equations and intermediate Excel functions.  Learn to forecast trends, by plotting trendlines (linear, exponential and polynomial).  Forecast trends and growth using algebraic equations and equivalent Excel functions such as FORECAST(), GROWTH(), TREND() and LINEST().

WORD PROCESSING

Beginning Corel WordPerfect 9.0 (9:00-4:00)

Teaches basic editing and formatting commands, headers and footers, block functions, text enhancements, tabs, page numbering. Plus, how to use the spell-checker, thesaurus and grammar checker.

Intermediate Corel WordPerfect 9.0 (9:00-4:00)

Covers columns, fonts, styles, graphics, and text boxes. Also, learn merge operations, forms, keyboard merges, mailing labels and envelopes.

DATABASE

Beginning Microsoft Access 2003 (9:00-4:00)

Creating, editing, printing and modifying data tables, forms, reports, mailing labels. Relating data between tables is also covered. Also creating queries, reports from queries, calculating with queries and how to use Wizards is included.

 Advanced Microsoft Access 2003 (9:00-4:00)

Learn to enhance table relationships, create parameter, crosstab, delete, append, and archive queries. Also learn to change form and report properties, create command buttons, macros and menus.

Prerequisite: Thorough working knowledge of Access and macros. Covers Visual Basic, macros, modules, defining procedures, functions and variables to automate forms and reports.

Microsoft Access 2003 Workshop (2-Day)

The workshop is an extended 2-day Beginning Access class with actual scenarios for you to develop every aspect of a database on your own in class.  There is a brief introduction to Advanced and Programming as well.

Put It All Together (8:30-12:30)

Prerequisite: Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Covers using Microsoft Binder, integrating and linking, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access applications together. Linking merge documents, importing data from spreadsheets, graphs, documents, and databases are covered.

Working with Views, creating projects, defining relationships and resources. Also adding resources to tasks, editing resource calendars and assignments, formatting views and scheduling and tracking projects.

Create and design web pages. Create hypertext links, bookmarks and lists. Learn to work with images, templates, tables and forms.

Microsoft Outlook 2003 (9:00-4:00)

Work with folders, address books and distribution lists. Learn to create and edit contact lists, import data, send and receive mail. Also, learn to manage journals, appointments, and meeting as well as work with templates.

Learn to create flyers, brochures, invitations and to work with graphics, borders and clipart images.  Generate mail merges for publications and also learn to create a mini web-page using animation and sounds.

QuickBooks Pro 2003 (for Non-Accountants) (9:00-4:00)

Learn to set up a company including accounts with opening balances.  Set up inventories and company lists.  Generate invoices, payments and receivables and payroll.  Also, learn to create reports and track taxes.

Acrobat Reader 6.0 (9:00-4:00)

Learn to create, modify and format PDF files from scratch, from the Web, or from other applications. Also learn to: add Security to PDF files, correct scanned documents, convert postscript files to PDF, manage color, put documents on-line, create thumbnails, create buttons and links to navigate through a document, create action links, digitally sign documents, attach documents to PDF files, create forms, calculate fields on forms, and build a PDF library.

Dreamweaver MX I & II

Describe basic Web and HTML concepts, navigate and customize the Dreamweaver MX 2004 environment, and work with the Code Inspector, the Tag Inspector, and the Quick Tag Editor. Plan and define a Web site, create, save, and import text in a document, and modify page properties. Define headings and paragraphs, create lists and special characters, import Microsoft Office documents, and check for spelling errors in a document. Insert tables, add text content, insert and delete rows and columns, create table headers, align text in table cells, modify table properties, and create table summaries.

Create and draw layers, modify layer properties, embed a Flash movie in a layer, and apply behaviors to layers. Identify the components of the Timelines panel, create and modify a timeline animation, and apply timeline behaviors. Identify the basic concepts of database-driven pages, set up a database-driven Web site, create a recordset and display records, create a recordset navigation bar, create a master/detail page set, and add search capability to a Web page. Check a document for browser-specific compatibility problems and code errors, and apply the Check browser behavior.
